Elena Neva Virginia Brown, affectionately known as "Peach" was born Sept 24, 1924. The youngest daughter of eight children born to Drucilla Braswell and Kirby Smith, she was received into the arms of our Lord on Feb 8, 2013 at 10:45 p.m.
Elena was born and educated in Wayne County, Pikesville, North Carolina. On June 1, 1947, she was married to Leroy Luther Brown, (who preceded her in death) at Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church, Brooklyn, NY, where they first met, by Rev. R. Dent.
Elena had a proud career as a practical nurse and caregiver in Brooklyn and the Washington Metropolitan area where she relocated in the early 1980's. A creatively gifted woman, Elena was an excellent seamstress and interior decorator who made her own drapery and outfitted all of her children with hats, coats, and dress clothes.
She had a passion for God and the Gospel and was devoted to her family and her church.
She is survived by one sister, Pauline Coley, three daughters, LaRita D. Lynch, Valerie Z. Brown, and Renee Y. Richardson and son, Jonathan L. Brown, two sons-in-law, William Henry Lynch, Daniel L. Richardson three sisters-in-law, Esther Dash, Pearline Glass, and Decimal Brown; Two brother-in-laws John K. Brown, Ordie Brown, five grandchildren, Quinton E. Lynch, Charles H. Smith, Jr., Sean J. Smith, Kashmere E. Brown, Symone D. L. Richardson and seven great grandchildren, Jonathan M. Lynch, Reese Lynch, Noelle Smith, Jordan Smith, Charles A. Smith III, Casey Smith, Chase Smith, and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and Godchildren; all a blessing.
As Esther was brought before her groom, the King, so Elena Brown, was ushered into His presence and is now celebrating with her Lord and Savior, the King of Heaven.
