

Mrs. Ochoa was born on March 1, 1934 in Tela, Honduras. She moved to the United States at a young age, where she attended and graduated from Women’s Marjorie Webster Junior College in Washington, DC. Following her graduation, Elsa worked at the Pan-American Health Organization (PAHO) for 41 years.
She was an inspiring and devoted mother, grandmother, confidant, and friend. She adored her family, loved hosting parties, and selflessly gave herself to others. Elsa was a devout Catholic and a long-time parishioner of St. John the Beloved in McLean, VA.
Her dedicated husband of 48 years, Jorge M. Ochoa, preceded her in death.
She is survived by her children, Elsa O. Chryst, Jorge E. Ochoa (Carol), Jose M. Ochoa (Lori), and Vanessa C. Weglian (Michael); seven grandchildren: Jonathan, Cody, J. Michael, Brian, Allison, George, and John; her brother, Ricardo E. Collier; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, February 28, from 7 to 9 PM at Murphy Funeral Home, 1102 W. Broad Street, Falls Church, VA. A funeral mass in honor of Elsa’s life will be held at 11 AM on Monday, February 29, at St. John the Beloved Catholic Church in McLean, VA. A rosary service will precede the mass at 10:30 AM. Reception will be held at Elsa’s house following the mass. Burial date will be announced later.
