

Frederick “Fred” Daw Paxton II, of Great Falls, Virginia, passed away on July 11, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. He was born in Champaign, Illinois, and built a life defined by hard work, integrity, and devotion to those he loved.
Fred was the beloved husband of Diana L. “Deener” Paxton of Great Falls, Virginia. Together they built a loving family that was the center of his life. He is survived by his children: Frederick “Freddy” Daw Paxton III and his husband Steven Kaufman of Washington, DC, William David and his wife Laura Diane Paxton of Great Falls, Virginia, Christopher Lee Paxton of Great Falls Virginia, Alexander Lee and his wife Lauren Paxton of Midlothian, Virginia, and Meagan Radcliff Paxton of Portsmouth, New Hampshire. His greatest pride was watching his children grow and supporting them throughout their lives. Fred was also a Grandfather to Frederick Daw “Derick” IV and his wife Alicia Paxton of Ashburn Virginia, Olivia Von Hesse Paxton of New York, New York, and Harper Lou & Winnie Claire Paxton of Midlothian Virginia; and Great-Grand Father to Charlie Alexander and Scarlett Elisabeth Paxton of Ashburn, Virginia.
A respected leader in the moving and relocation industry, Fred served as Chief Executive Officer of Paxton Van Lines, and Paxton International where he continued a proud five generation family legacy while helping guide the company with vision, dedication, and professionalism. He also served as a member of the Board of Directors of Atlas World Group, earning the respect and admiration of colleagues throughout the industry for his leadership, wisdom, and unwavering commitment to excellence.
Those who knew Fred will remember him as a man of strong character, generous spirit, and quiet determination. He believed in the value of hard work, treating people with respect, and always doing the right thing. His legacy lives on through his family, the business he helped lead, and the many lives he touched throughout his career and community. Fred also supported youth hockey and was a coach to his children during their early years, he also loved The Washington Capitals, his favorite sports team. Fred was an avid golfer and continued to enjoy his beloved sport through his senior years.
He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, colleagues, and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
