Gabrielle Maria Klimkowski

November 17, 1991July 23, 2018

Gabrielle Maria Klimkowski, the beloved daughter of Paul and Camilla Klimkowski was born into a Navy family. She grew up as a military child to include multiple moves and school changes, living on both east and west coasts, as well as outside the continental United States and overseas. She considered Northern Virginia her home.

She was proud to be a Mountaineer from West Virginia University and pursued her major as a Graphic Design artist. To Gabrielle family was very important. She was proud of her family’s history of serving in the Military and her heart was always with the Navy. In her way, she continued to serve, as an employee at Duty First Consulting. A company that supports agencies of the federal government and our Veterans.

Gabrielle cherished her friends and maintained contact with them around the world. Many, who were especially dear to her heart, were right here in Arlington, Falls Church, and Fairfax, Virginia.

Finally, Gabrielle was keenly aware of animals with special needs. Some of the organizations, that she felt were beneficial are Friends of Homeless Animals and the Wounded Paw Project. Her interested led her to research their programs, their accomplishments, and to donate financially to show her support. Also, the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) was extremely important to her. It is a well established organization with a history of disclosure, a broad base of outreach, and many success stories. Therefore, if you find any of these organizations to be of interest, consider their work and show your support in honor of Gabrielle.

A Life Celebration and Visitation for Gabrielle Maria Klimkowski will take place from 3:00 pm - 6:00 pm Sunday, August 5, 2018 at Murphy Funeral Home, 1102 West Broad Street, Falls Church, VA 22046.

Dear favorite cousin,
I miss you every day. I hold our laughs, jokes, and memories very dear to my heart. You were wise beyond your years and understood so many things about God, life, and animals that we would only hope to one day comprehend.
When I see a beautiful cloud or especially colorful sunset, I smile to myself and think, “Gabrielle had to have designed that.” Auntie Camilla and Uncle Paul... It’s as if God said I’ll make you a deal. I’ll give you a smart, beautiful, talented daughter that you will cherish and that will touch the lives of many, but after 26 years, I’ll bring her home to me. Would you take the deal? I think it’s a deal that you, me, and everyone else fortunate enough to meet Gabrielle would take over and over again. Some people have quality of life and others have quantity of life. You, my sweet cousin, had quality of life. I love you forever. No goodbye... see you later.

What a JOY and BLESSING you are! There are so many memories I hold dear (putting 73 candles on Grandma Berenice’s birthday cake, trips to Uncle Brian’s farm in Florida.) Among my favorites are the “Blast from the Past” trip Danielle and I took with you and your mom. How fun it was to show you our Detroit roots…where we grew up, the schools we attended, and so much more. We made fatayer for dinner at Aunt Violet’s, then you and Danielle decided to have a “midnight fatayer party” on your own!
Once I came to visit you in Arlington, and I had just donated my hair to “Locks of Love.” Hair that short was something new for me. What PATIENCE as you took the time to straighten and style my hair!
Your COMPASSION was evident this last birthday, when I asked what I could get you. Without missing a beat, you asked for a donation to an animal shelter in my area.
Two years ago, I again came to the DC area. Your dad took us out to an amazing restaurant, the Hamilton. When the server came over for beverages, I was immediately aware of your SENSITIVITY as you asked to get herbal tea for me, because you knew I liked it.
I will always carry your LOVE in my heart. You will always be… my favorite niece, and I will always be… your devoted Aunt GG.

My sweet cousin, you are so so loved. So many people hold you in our hearts and minds. Thank you for filling my childhood with your friendship and companionship as only a cousin can. I’ll always think of you every time I see Harimone Granger. I’ll always think of the days of sitting on Uncle Mark’s trampoline and just talking all evening. I love that we connected even more through social media in recent years. Thank you for the memories. There is just something about family that no matter how far or how long we’ve been away, we can just pick right back up and be immidately close and sharing and joking again. I look forward to that day! I know we’ll have lots of stories to share.

We just laid you to rest, one of the toughest days of my life. We are now gathered at Pistones and it’s amazing to me to see all the people you have touched. Not surprising at all though. I hope you know how loved you were and will continue to be. You left a huge impact on my life that will not soon be forgotten. I love you so much, your friendship has been one of a lifetime. Rest In Peace sweet Gabs.

To Paul and Camilla,

You guys raised an amazing woman, I know you are so proud of her. I am keeping you all in my thoughts. Gabby was one of a kind, and so very loved. I love you both. I am ALWAYS here for anything you need.

I regretfully add my voice to the many expressions of condolences to Gabby's family and friends as you grapple with her loss. I did not know her for a substantial length of time, but our many interactions within our office were always congenial, witty and wry with her warm sense of humor. As the father of teenage daughters, her eclectic footwear was endlessly fascinating to me and she was generous enough on a few occasions to let me photograph her shoes to text a pic of them to my daughters--as I would not have done a good job describing them. (The photo attached is of a pair she wore last July ). She was missed when she left our company for a new opportunity earlier this year and I am certain she will missed always by those who were closest to her. May the memory of the years spent with her be a comfort in this time of grief for all who knew and loved her.
