George E. Mouchahoir was called to eternal life on June 5, 2020 at the age of 79 years. He received his education from the LaSalle Christian Brothers at the College du Sacre Coeur, progressing to the American University of Beirut, and culminating with a PhD in Civil Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology.
During a career spanning over three decades he worked in the private sector at MITRE, then as a professor at George Mason University teaching future generations of engineers, and finally for the U.S. Department of Transportation.
He was especially proud of his role in implementing the child LATCH system in vehicles, which has saved many young lives, as well as his role representing the U.S. as a delegate to the Global Road Safety Partnership (GRSP) where he was so esteemed by his foreign counterparts that they elected him Chairman for the group. However, George’s family and friends were his greatest pride.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Elie and Adibeh, and brother-in-law Charles (Sheila). He is dearly missed by his loving wife Enid, son Ely (Trina), daughter Tanya (Clint), brother Henry (Barbara), sister Claire (Chuck), brother-in-law George, his three grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many other family members and friends.
George loved people which was evident by his warm smiles, big laughs, and friendly greetings. He enjoyed good food and good company. Though saddened by our physical separation from him we live in the hope that he is feasting at the heavenly banquet in the good company of the saints.
