Hossein was born in Tehran, Iran to Mohtaram and Abdulhossein on March 27, 1938. He went to school in Tehran. He married Fatemeh Nateghian on October 29, 1959, in Tehran/Iran. He graduated from Harvard University.
He worked as an economist for the Central Bank of Iran. His last position was Director General of Economic & Statistics Department. After the revolution he left Iran and in 1982 and worked for the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as an advisor to West Africa for 8 years.
He was actively involved in tennis, basketball, hiking, volleyball and swimming.
Hossein is survived by Bahman Brian (son), Niloofar Clark (daughter), Atoosa Rateshtari (daughter), his niece Soheila Aghaey, Mojgan Shahkarami (daughter-in-law) and Thomas Clark (son-in-law). His Grandchildren are in the order of age: Roxana Clark, Yasmin Shahkarami, Sara Shahkarami, Terra Clark, John Clark, Emma Clark, Niki Rateshtari, Kiana Rateshtari. In addition, his niece’s children are Parisa and Parsa Mehdi.
Burial services will be held at 10:00 am on August 28, 2026, at National Memorial Park, King David Memorial Gardens in Falls Church, Virginia.
