Gregory Simeon Byrnes, 70, passed away July 18, 2020 at his home after a long illness.
Greg is survived by his three brothers, W. Michael (Jan), Douglas (Kathleen), and Dennis (Teri); his niece, Kaitlin (Christopher); nephews, Patrick (Jill), Jacob (Jamie), Brendan (Meaghan), Lucas (Rebecca), and Jonathan (Jackie); numerous cousins and friends.
Greg was born in Washington, DC on October 5, 1949 to Thelma and Bob Byrnes, who predeceased him. He joined the Air Force after high school, serving his country proudly on a mountain top in South Korea during the Vietnam War, and was honorably discharged in 1973. He later worked in telecommunications and was a Network Systems Supervisor for Bell Atlantic at the time of his retirement. He loved music and was an avid drummer. His love for music began in high school with the formation of his band, Seabrook Farm, and lasted his whole life. He was an avid supporter of Wolf Trap National Park for the Performing Arts and a member of the Catherine Filene Shouse Legacy Circle. Greg will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him.
At Greg’s request he will be cremated and there will be no service. His ashes will be interred at his parents resting place.
