Harvey shared nearly 65 wonderful years of marriage with the love of his life, Joan. Together, they were an unstoppable team, rooted in love, laughter, and unwavering support. Harvey was a devoted and proud father to his daughter, Cindy Shaver and father-in-law to Thomas Shaver. He was an amazing “Granddaddy” to Zack, Katie and Grace Shaver, each of whom brought great happiness to his life.
He was a beloved brother, brother-in-law, uncle to many nieces and nephews, and numerous friends and neighbors, all of whom knew him as dependable, determined, hard working, fun-loving, and always willing to pitch in and lend a helping hand.
A life-long resident of Fairfax, Virginia, Harvey proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was an electrician by trade and retired from the Department of Defense after many years of dedicated and distinguished service. Whether at work or at home, Harvey had a remarkable ability to fix almost anything. If something was broken, everyone knew he was the one to call.
Harvey always worked hard and played hard. He found great joy on the water, especially with his jet boat. He loved water skiing, fishing, and scuba diving, embraced every opportunity to be on the water and made lasting memories with those he loved.
Harvey will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved him. His wishes were to be cremated. The family will hold a celebration of life and remembrance at a later date. Details will be shared with family and friends when arrangements are finalized.
