Heidi Hicks Clary

Heidi not only worked on Capitol Hill for years but also at the National Rehab Hospital in Washington D.C. for 10 years, doing what she did best; making other people’s lives better. Heidi was an unwavering Washington Nationals fan and loved any chance she had to cheer on her local DC sports teams. In addition to being a zealous DC sports fan, Heidi was a foodie. She was known at all of her local diners, restaurants, and cafes. Hitting the town for a dinner date with Mike or an early morning breakfast with her mother were always her favorites. Heidi always cherished the holiday season; decorating and cooking to the nines! As such, Mike always tried to out-do himself on the festive decor but needed Heidi’s special touch to create the magic of the season.

Heidi used her incredible culinary skills to bring together friends and family. Hosting holidays, dinners, and any chance for celebration, she created a warm and welcoming environment to all in attendance. In addition to her three children, Heidi was beyond proud to be an aunt. She reveled in being a caretaker to all. As Heidi shared her love through cooking she was able to teach her family how to make her famous biscuits and gravy, which she learned from her parents. Her famous dish will continue to be enjoyed for generations to come, always in her honor.

Heidi always took pride in her upbringing as a military brat. Her father served in the United States Air Force, which meant moving frequently and attending schools all over the country. These experiences helped shape her adaptable and easygoing personality. In fact, throughout her fathers career, Heidi attended more schools than the number of years she spent in school.

Heidi is greatly loved and will be sincerely missed by her husband, children, dogs, and all who had the privilege of knowing her.
