
Passed away peacefully on December 17, 2011. A native of Philadelphia, he graduated from the University of Pennsylvania, which he attended on a Mayor's Scholarship, one of only two given annually in the City of Philadelphia. Upon graduating with a degree in Chemical Engineering, he moved to Washington, DC and took a job with the United States Patent Office. He completed law school at night at George Washington University, where he was elected to the Order of the Coif. He rose quickly in the Patent Office and was appointed by President Eisenhower as Examiner-in-Chief of the Board of Appeals of the US Patent Office, the youngest person at that time ever appointed. He retired after more than 50 years, with numerous commendations from the Patent Office and the US Government.
He is survived by his daughter, Carol Magil (Irving) Yoskowitz, and grandchildren, Stephen and Robert Yoskowitz. He was predeceased by his wife of over 50 years, Adele Liebman Magil and his daughter, Sandra Joan Magil. He also leaves his dear companion of over 20 years, Millicent Judith Summers.
Graveside services will be held at King David Memorial Gardens, Falls Church, VA on Tuesday, December 20, 2011 at 2:00 PM. The family will be observing Shiva at the Yoskowitz residence immediately following interment and on Wednesday and Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. In addition, on Wednesday and Thursday from 2 to 4 p.m. they will be observing Shiva at the Summers residence.
