Herman Zeitchik, 97, of Silver Spring, Maryland, passed away on April 30, 2021.
Herman was born in Linden, NJ to Esther and Frank Zeitchik on April 19, 1924. He went to school at Linden High School. He married the love of his life, Janet Greenberg Zeitchik on November 4, 1951 in Washington DC.
He worked with the family owned business for many years.
He served in the Army, and was a veteran of World War II – from Normandy to the Battle of the Bulge to Dachau, he was willing to sacrifice his life to help us preserve our freedoms. He was honored during the 2018 State of the Union address, as well as by France as a Knight in the French Legion of Honor.
Herman is preceded in death by his Father Frank Zeitchik, his Mother Esther Zeitchik, his Brother Mike Zeitchik, and his Sisters Doris Wahl and Shirley Levine.
Herman is survived by his Wife Janet Greenberg Zeitchik, Daughter Carol Bodner (Elliot), Daughter Linda Frank (Alan), Son Howard Zeitchik, Granddaughter Hillary Bodner (David Buchman), Granddaughter Erica Kruglak (Sean), Granddaughter Lindsay Bodner, Grandson Matthew Frank (Kennan Bradley-Frank), his Great-Grandchildren Morgan and Jackson Kruglak
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Friends of the National WWII Memorial. www.wwiimemorialfriends.org
Shiva Services will be private.
Funeral services will be held 2pm, Sunday, May 2, 2021, graveside at King David Memorial Gardens 7482 Lee Highway Falls Church, VA 22042.
