

On Sunday May 1, 2011. IRVING HURWITZ of Delray Beach, FL. formerly of Rockville, MD. Beloved husband of Helaine Grayson Hurwitz; loving father of David (Lori) and Jeffrey (Mindy) Hurwitz; dear grandfather of Adam and Jonathan Hurwitz. he served in the Navy during WWII and attended Duke University and The University of Maryland. His early career was in management at the Hecht Co. and as a sales representative for Burlington Industries. He entered the building business in 1960 and successfully built apartments and single family homes in the Washington, Virginia and Maryland area. He left the business in 1978 and in 1980 joined the Montgomery County Housing Opportunities Commission as Director of Development. He retired in 1985. He was actively involved in many charities during his life and worked tirelessly for The Hebrew Home of Greater Washington and the Children's Inn at N.I.H. He leaves behind a legacy of love for his family and friends, tolerance and belief in human rights and the dignity of his fellow man. Graveside Funeral services will be held on Wednesday May 4, 2011, 1:30 p.m. at King David Memorial Garden, Falls Church, VA. Shiva at the residence of David and Lori Hurwitz, Wednesday and Thursday evenings.
