Irving J. Imburg

Died peacefully in Washington, DC on Saturday September 8, 2012. Born in Richmond, VA he was the son of the late Samuel and Nettie (Meyers) Imburg. He was predeceased by his first wife Clare (Cardozo) Imburg. He attended Washington University and the Medical College of Virginia School of Dentistry. He served in the US Army (1943-44) and in the US Air Force (1951-53.) He then practiced dentistry in Northern Virginia for many years until his retirement in 2002. He co-founded and directed the first free dental clinic for the indigent in Richmond, VA. He is a past president of the Northern Virginia and Fairfax County Dental Societies. He was a Fellow in the American College of Dentistry, the International College of Dentistry and the Virginia Dental Association and he served as president of Temple Beth El in Alexandria, VA. Dr. Imburg leaves his beloved second wife Jeanne Ross Imburg, his daughters Catherine Kaplan and her husband Richard, Susan Minkin and Nancy Cavin, his stepsons Jeffrey Ross, Daniel Ross, Scott Ross and their families, his grandchildren Tracy and Brandon Kaplan, Jon, Scott and Michelle Minkin, Benjamin and Whitney Cavin, as well as his great aunt Molly Salsbury and numerous cousins. The family will always be grateful to Asmaou Kakay, the staff at Sunrise Assisted Living on Connecticut Avenue NW, Washington, DC and Capital Caring Hospice for their kindness and consideration. Services will be held at National Memorial Park Chapel, 7482 Lee Hwy, Falls Church, VA on Monday, September 10, 2012 at 1:30 p.m. Interment at King David.
