James L. Beaty, of Falls Church, VA, passed away on October 4, 2025. Born on February 7, 1962 to Lee Scott Beaty Sr. and Ruth Beaty. James worked for The National Park Service for twenty five years before retiring in 2022. For many of those years, he was a Tree Crew Supervisor on the George Washington Memorial Parkway (Great Falls, VA to Mount Vernon, VA). He truly cared about his crew and took pride in the way the Parkway looked.
James will be remembered by his family and friends for his infectious laugh that could be heard a mile away and his predictable response “good deal,” a phrase that will echo in our memories for years to come. Though he was a quiet man, his loyalty to his family never wavered. James found comfort in the simple things - fresh air, tall trees, and fishing on the bay.
James was preceded in death by his father, Lee Scott Beaty Sr., his mother, Ruth Beaty, and his brother, Lee Scott Beaty Jr. He is survived by his wife, Linda Beaty; Daughter, Lauren Beaty (Kevin); Son, James Beaty (Gellaine); Five grandchildren; Mikayla, Gianna, Axel, Carson and Noah. He’s also survived by many friends and cousins. James’ remains were placed in a plantable urn. He will be a beautiful tree in his daughter Lauren’s yard for many years to come.
