

James E. Robey Sr., 94, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, August 15, 2017 at Mary Washington Hospital. James graduated from Fairfax High School in 1941 and enlisted in the US Army to fight in the South Pacific during WWII. At the end of the war he went to work at the Veterans Administration for 2 years. He left the V.A. and went to work at Thompson Dairy for 28 yrs. Once the Dairy closed, he went to work for VDOT until he retired. He recently celebrated 60 yrs. of sobriety in AA.
James is preceded in death by his parents Everett L. and Suella F. Robey; his cherished children Sandra Allport, Brenda Gilbert, and Jeffrey Robey; and his beloved sisters Lucile and Frances. James leaves behind to cherish his memories his two children James Robey, Jr. (Patti) and Robert E. Robey (Viv); his Grandchildren Byron Martney (Bari), James E. Robey III, Daniel Martney (Linda), Melissa A. Robey, Amanda Robey; Christopher Nelson (Grace), Michelle Bayles (Travis), and Christopher Johnson (Louise); his 15 great grandchildren; his sister June Much; and his two sons-in-law Charles Allport and Greg Nelson.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, August 24, 2017 at National Funeral Home, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, Virginia 22042 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. A Funeral will be held on Friday, August 25, 2017 in the chapel at National Funeral Home at 10:00 am followed by a graveside service at Quantico National Cemetery, 18424 Joplin Road, Triangle, Virginia 22172.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made in James’ name to the VFW post of your choice.
