Born on August 12, 1935, in Singapore, Jennie was the daughter of Lim Khiam Soon and Wee Peck Geok. She grew up in Pasir Panjang, Singapore, and lived through the hardships of the Japanese occupation during the Second World War. She attended Saint Anthony’s Convent, was baptized and later married Melville Nicholas Campos on December 26, 1961, in Singapore. Together they shared a strong and enduring marriage and raised a close-knit family grounded in faith and love.
Jennie was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother whose life centered around her family and her Catholic faith. Deeply religious and quietly steadfast, she was known for her wisdom, pragmatism, generosity, and conservative values. She spent much of her life in prayer, often holding the rosary in her hands, and drew strength and comfort from her devotion to Jesus Christ and Mother Mary.
She was also gifted in the arts and enjoyed painting. Family and friends will fondly remember her wonderful Singaporean cooking, blending Chinese and Indian influences, which brought warmth and comfort to many gatherings over the years. Her religious devotion and moral guidance left a lasting influence on her children and grandchildren.
Jennie volunteered for a few years at St. Joseph’s Home for the Elderly in Singapore and participated in various ad hoc volunteer activities within the Catholic Church community. She was especially cherished by her close friends.
She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Melville Nicholas Campos, and by all of her siblings: Geok Lian, Kim Sye, Kim Chye, and Lam Seng.
She is lovingly survived by her children and their spouses: Fr. Noel, Brian and Wai Leng, Conrad and Daphne, Pamela and Michael; and by her twelve grandchildren: Aaron,
Clarissa, Nicola, Sophia, Sarah, Celeste, Nelson, Joseph, Wilbert, Arista, Meredith, and Nathaniel.
The family wishes to express heartfelt gratitude to Daphne for her patient and loving care during the final year of Jennie’s life, as well as to the doctors, nurses, and hospice home care staff who cared for her with compassion and dignity.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Fraternidad Misionera Verbum Dei, the missionary organization of her son, Fr. Noel Campos.
