Joel Mayer Margolis

Joel was born in Durham, NC to Ethel and Reuben Margolis on July 9, 1943. He went to school in Newport News, VA. He married Robin Levi on December 28, 1986 in Silver Spring, MD. He graduated from the University of Virginia and the Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine in Chicago.

He worked as a musician and then a Podiatrist in the Navy for several years, then had a private podiatric practice in Fredericksburg, VA, for four years, and, subsequently, was the civilian Podiatrist at Ft. Meyer in Arlington, VA.

Joel is preceded in death by his parents, Ethel and Reuben Margolis.

Joel is survived by his wife Robin Margolis, daughter Geri Margolis, sister Marilyn Wasserman, brother Larry Margolis, brother-in-law Terry Levi, niece Sharon Wasserman, and nephews Lenny (Sherri) Wasserman, and Jay (Stephanie) Wasserman, great nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Memorials may be given to the ASPCA, The American Stroke Foundation or charitable organization of your choice. The family of Joel wishes to extend our sincere thanks to Belmont Bay Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday September 11, 2026 at King David Memorial Gardens with Rabbi Maltzman of Kol Shalom, officiating. Burial will follow at King David Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are by National Funeral Home
