John Paul Kammerer passed Friday, August 5th 2022 at INOVA Fairfax. John, 84, was born May 24th 1938 to Edward F Kammerer and Ellen V Giordano of Washington, DC. One of six children, he and his “younger” twin had an older sister, Mary (West) McLean, and two older brothers, Edward (Frances) Kammerer, James (Beverly) Kammerer. He is survived by his twin Joseph (Maureen) Kammerer and sister Margaret (John) Combs.
John attended and kept in touch with classmates from Bunker Hill Elementary and Archbishop Carroll High School. He graduated from the University of Maryland with a degree in Economics, beginning his lifelong collection of Terrapin memorabilia. As an active Alum, he was supportive of the University often holding season tickets for football and basketball games.
He married Joan Atzrott in 1963, having two children during their 18-year marriage. John Joseph “Jay” and Jana Marie (Eric Whipkey). John was a hard worker and a good provider beginning with his first job delivering the “Evening Star” from a red wagon, to decades in sales with Xerox, Group 1, CommNet, and Monticello Software. John enjoyed tennis, running, and was passionate about golf. He played year-round at Heritage Hunt Golf Course community where he lived for 20 years with his second wife, Mariane.
John enjoyed keeping up and spending time with his large extended family. He was especially proud of his granddaughters, Tara Noelle, and Charlotte Jae. John was always up to go dancing, where, as always, he would be impeccably dressed for the occasion.
