Joe was born in New York, NY, on October 6, 1938, to Joseph and Theresa Lukacsewits.
He is preceded in death by his parents and by his sisters Barbara Clark and Rose Marie Lucas as well as his daughter Stephanie Baxter.
He is survived by his wife Elaine D. Lucas; children Christine Lucas, Jon Lucas and wife Michelle; grandchildren Morgan Wilson, Camryn Chamblis, Cassie Lucas and Kevin Baxter.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, having served in Okinawa and Korea. He fully embodied the Marine Corps mantra “Semper Fidelis” He truly practiced Once a Marine, Always a Marine. He worked for Washington Area Metropolitan Transit Authority (METRO) for forty years.
He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed boating, hunting and fishing. He could be found at the firing range with friends well into retirement.
A private burial will be held on Thursday, May 22, at National Memorial Park in Falls Church, VA.
