Julia Ann De Groot

Julia A. Putziger De Groot was born on February 27,1935 in Syracuse,New York. Julia passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on March 7th, 2025. She is survived by her devoted husband, Benton Drake De Groot

Julia was a loving mother to William, Robert, and Katherine, also to Mary and Michael who proceeded her in death. She leaves behind a treasured legacy as a grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. Julia was actively involved in the local Democratic Party and played a significant role in establishing one of the first Teen Centers in Fairfax County. In addition, she served on the Board of the Northern Virginia Juvenile Detention Home. She was a member of Saint Philip Catholic Church. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Visitation will take place on Wednesday, March 19th, from 3 to 6 PM at Murphy’s Funeral Home in Falls Church,VA. Funeral service will be held at Saint Philip Catholic Church in Falls Church on Thursday, March 20, at 11:00 AM, with internment to follow at The National Memorial Cemetery in Falls Church.
