Kartar Singh Juneja was born in Mandi Bahaldin, Pakistan, and migrated to India during Partition. In 1970, he arrived in the U.S. with nothing but determination and hard work, building a life with integrity, strong values, and resilience.
A man of deep generosity, he took after his mother, always helping family and the community in any way he could. His unwavering morals and commitment to hard work were matched only by his humor and larger-than-life presence. There was no party without him—if he wasn’t there, people would ask, “Where’s John?” because his laughter and warmth made every gathering complete.
In 1960, he undertook an extraordinary journey, bicycling from India to England—navigating foreign lands, language barriers, and unknown challenges, proving his fearlessness and determination.
Even in his later years, after suffering a stroke, he never stopped being a fighter. Through it all, his wife, Urmil, stood by his side, caring for him with endless love and devotion.
Kartar is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Urmil; his children, Manoj, Simmi, and Priti; his son-in-law, Rajeev; his daughter-in-law, Namita; and his grandchildren, Aditya and Avkaash.
His legacy of kindness, humor, strength, and generosity will live on in all who knew him.
We love you and will miss you always.
A funeral service for Kartar will be held Thursday, March 13, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 11:45 PM at National Funeral Home, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA 22042.
