Kenneth M. Herman

On Thursday, June 21, 2012, KENNETH MARTIN HERMAN, a native Washingtonian and founder of Shoppers Food Warehouse, passed away peacefully at his home. He was the beloved husband for 33 years to Rhoda Herman; devoted and loving father of Sandra Jean (Jeffrey S.) Perkins, Robert Norman Herman (Ann Gerber), Mitchell Dana Herman (Patti Berman) and Laurence Scott Herman; adored grandfather of Taryn, Todd, Matthew, Douglas, Scott, Andrew, Tyler and Justin; great-grandfather of Jacqueline, Michelle, Kayla, Ella, Ryan and Eli. Loving step-father to Eileen Lehrer (Peter), Nadine Levin (Alan) and Donni Rappaport. Kenneth is survived by his sister Florence Kossow. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m., Sunday, June 24 at Washington Hebrew Congregation, 3935 Macomb St., NW, Washington, DC. Interment to follow at King David Memorial Gardens, Falls Church, VA. The family will receive friends immediately following the interment at his late residence. They will sit through Tuesday, June 26, 4 to 9 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to B'nai B'rith.
