Born and raised in DC when Washington was still "a little Southern town," he met his Creator on December 11, 2012. Wed in 1943 to Virginia Lewis Holmes who predeceased him. Father of Steve (Cheryl) Holmes and Lynn (Brian) Swersky; grandfather of Lauren (Wes) Barnes, Jordan (Lacey) Holmes, Jessica Swersky, Ashley (Evan) Bass, Tyler Holmes & Wade Holmes; great-grandfather of Madeline and Zachary Barnes, Emerson and Soren Holmes, and Olivia Bass; brother of Wendell (Betty) Holmes. Ken ("KO") served as a Communications Specialist in the Navy during WWII and then worked 42 years for the Washington Gas Light Co. He was active in his church throughout his life. Along with his family, he enjoyed gardening, photography and painting. The celebration of his life will be December 17 at 11 a.m. at Cherrydale Baptist Church in Arlington, VA. No public visitation. Graveside service is for family only.
