

In 1953 Ki Dong Park founded Shin Seng Industry, a pioneer of the machine industry in South Korea. He succeeded in expanding his work globally as he exported the company’s first machinery to the United States in 1973. His hard work and diligence to the industry led to him receiving the Industrial Medal of Honor for Great Contribution of Korean Industry Development from President Chung Hee Park in 1974. After 30 years as president of Shin Seng Industry, Ki Dong moved on to other ventures and retired as president of Park’s Hardware Inc. in 2016 where he had been working since 1983.
Ki Dong Park was also a man of faith. He attended Bible college and was affiliated with Messiah Presbyterian Church. He founded Buk Il Presbyterian Church in 1959. His dedication to his faith was a testament to all, and in 2021, he received the Order of Service Merit from the General Assembly of the Presbyterian Church of Korea for Great Contribution for Development of the General Assembly. He received this great honor due to his role in constructing the main building and dormitory of the church and also for founding the Christianity Newspaper of Korea.
After passing on October 13th, 2023, Ki Dong was reunited with his wife Sung Bun Park. He is survived by sons Jun Il Park of Haymarket, VA, Young Il Park of Arlington Heights, IL, and Won Il Park of Stafford, VA. He is also survived by daughters Eun Ah Park of Ashburn, VA and Eun Ryung Choi of Brandywine, MD.
A visitation for Ki will be held Friday, October 20, 2023 from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM at National Funeral Home, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA 22042. A funeral service will occur Friday, October 20, 2023 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA 22042. A committal service will occur Friday, October 20, 2023 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at National Memorial Park, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA 22042.
