Kurt M. Fichte, age 48, of Arlington, VA, passed away on October 26, 2023. Born into a Foreign Service family, Kurt was born in Germany during the time his father was assigned to the U.S. Consulate in Alexandria, Egypt. After Egypt, he lived in Mexico, Nigeria, Ethiopia, and Bolivia.
Kurt is survived by his mother, Janice L. Jacobs; father, Royce J. Fichte; brother, Eric A Fichte; Uncle, Larry Jacobs; and Aunt, Linda Wineberg.
Kurt lived in Arlington where he graduated from Yorktown High School. He obtained a Bachelor in Fine Arts from Longwood University in 1996 where he majored in Theater Arts. Acting was his passion, winning him parts in school plays and at the Source Theater when he was only in middle school. As many actors do, Kurt became a server. He lived and worked in New York city; Chicago; Fayetteville, Arkansas; Charleston, S.C.; and Arlington, where he worked at fine dining restaurants in nearby Washington, D.C.
Growing up overseas gave Kurt different perspectives on life. He learned Spanish and English at the same time and sometimes searched for the right word in English when he was little. He had the personality to make friends no matter the situation. He was talkative, funny, smart, and fiercely loyal to his friends and loved ones. His big heart included a love for animals, particularly dogs. Life was not always easy for Kurt and the love and support of his friends and family were important to him. He will be sorely missed by all.
Memorial service will be held at Murphy Funeral Home in Falls Church, November 28, 2023 starting at 2pm.
Donations can be made in Kurt's honor to NAMI (National Alliance on Mental Illness) or Arlington Animal Welfare League.
