Laura Maher Hicks, age 71, passed away on October 16th, 2020 surrounded by her family and friends. She is survived by her son Robert, daughter in law Sheri, sisters Mary Scagliarini (Paul), Pat Carocari (John), brothers Lawrence Maher (Anne), and Michael Maher. She was predeceased by her parents, Larry and Mary Maher, and her husband Turner.

There, she helped start the Friendly Visitor Program, chaired the New Client Assessment Committee, served as a Ride Coordinator, and even helped take clients to medical appointments, grocery stores, and pharmacies. Laura was also an active member of Saint James Catholic Church. She served as both a sacristan and a Eucharistic Minister. Also a member of the Bereavement Ministry, Laura attended Funeral Masses on behalf of the parish and offered her support to the families.
The family will be receiving visitors on October 29th from 2PM to 4PM, then again from 6PM to 8PM at Murphy’s Funeral Home. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, only 30 people are allowed inside the parlor room at once, so please be considerate to others who may be waiting to enter. Memorial Mass will be the following day at Saint James Catholic Church at 10AM. The burial will follow at National Memorial Park at 11AM.
