Steve and I are so sorry to hear of Laurels passing. We have come to love her dearly and will miss our conversations with her.

I was fortunate to work under the tutelage of Laurel, Jack and Carolyn at Carriage Trade Travel in Balston back in the 90's. I had gone to travel school and then came on board in the 90's where I worked part time while teaching in Arlington. Laurel and Jack gave me an education by taking me to Milwaukee,Wisconsin on Midwest Express for the annual Circus Parade. It was such a fun trip. We would hold annualChristmas parties at the travel agency for all of our clients, too. Laurel has a special heart for those who worked for her. She would make us a special gift for the holidays that she either sewed or crocheted. It was a pleasure to have known her in this lifetime.

I met Laurel when I moved to Battles Street in Jan. of  1955.  I was the "new kid" and the teacher asked Laurel to look after me and she did in many ways and over 70 long years.  

As a teen "looking after me" often got me into trouble, but my life would have been far more dull without that  trouble.

Laurel was the maid of honor at my wedding and we stayed in touch
over the years.  I remember her times as a travel agent at American  Express.  I remember when she and Jack founded Carriage Trade Travel (and when Jack passed away.) And her wedding to Eloy.  So many years, so many memories.

I want to thank Eloy and Laurel's many friends (especially Jorge) for the care they gave her (before and after her tragic diagnosis one year ago. ) And also to thank  the medical professionals on her "cancer bus ride," who kept her with us for as long possible.

Laurel enjoyed the adventure of life!  A good friend and great neighbor. Always thought she was in the ideal business as she loved to travel.  Laurel and Eloy " The Perfect Fit."
