Linda Margaret Cevasco, age 84, a longtime resident of McLean, Virginia, passed away peacefully at home on April 18, 2026, surrounded by her family. She had been living with lung cancer, which became more acute in the final weeks of her life.
Linda was born in 1941 and raised in Tottenville, Staten Island, New York City, the youngest of three children of Charles and Catherine (Coleman) Hamilton. She was predeceased by her brother, Warren, and is survived by her sister, Gail. Her father’s family had deep roots in Staten Island, while her mother was raised in Newark, New Jersey.
She graduated from Brooklyn College with a degree in Geology. During her college years, she met Frank Cevasco, who was attending nearby Brooklyn Polytechnic Institute. The two began a relationship that would span much of their undergraduate years, and it would last a lifetime. Soon after graduation, they married and lived in the New York City area before moving to Maryland when Frank entered active duty as an Army Combat Engineer officer. During this time, Linda demonstrated quiet strength and resilience, welcoming their first son, Michael, at Fort Meade, and later returning to Staten Island to live with her parents while Frank was deployed to Vietnam. She gave birth to their second son, Kevin, during his absence. After Frank’s return, the family settled in the Washington, DC area, where they built their life together.
Linda had a lifelong love of learning and continued to explore new subjects, including coursework in computer science after college. She brought that curiosity and discipline to her career in federal service, working first with a Navy program office in Crystal City and later with the Central Intelligence Agency’s Office of Information Technology. Known for her steady judgment, she managed contracts and finances. She retired at age 65.
Linda found great joy in the rhythms of everyday life and in the people she brought together. She was an exceptional cook who took pride in preparing memorable meals not only for her family, but also for the many domestic and international colleagues and guests who visited through Frank’s work. Her table was a place of warmth, generosity, and connection.
She enjoyed relaxing with PBS mystery series, traveling the world with Frank, art, and spending time with close friends. Together, they explored destinations across the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, Australia, and South America, among many others. Whether at home or abroad, Linda valued conversation, companionship, and shared experience.
She is survived by her husband, Frank Cevasco, of McLean, Virginia; two sons, Michael Cevasco (Lynn Lawrence) and Kevin Cevasco (Virginia “Ginny” Cevasco); three grandchildren, Andrew Barros (Diane), Matthew Cevasco (Sierra), and Brendan Cevasco and his partner, Alana; and two great-granddaughters (Evelyn, Marie).
She will be remembered for her strength, her steadiness, and the care she showed to those around her.
