

Loretta Sullivan, 93, passed away peacefully on January 31, 2023. She was born on June 16, 1929, and was the beloved wife of John Sullivan, her husband of 70 years. Together, they raised five children, Dawn, Terence (Anita), Keith (Susan), Kenneth (Ginny),and Dolan (Delia) who survive her. Loretta and John were also extremely proud and loving supporters of their 11 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.
Loretta lived an extraordinary life as the wife of a West Point graduate. She travelled the world as an Army wife and mother, raising her family while embracing new cultures and experiences. She was a talented artist and craftsperson, with a passion for painting, quilting, horticulture, and ceramics. Her many and varied quilts are works of art. Her 165 bowling average and dance routines (including the Hokey Pokey with four generations of her family just last Christmas) were testaments to her athletic competitiveness.
Loretta lived a life filled with love, laughter, and family. She was a devoted wife, mother, and friend, always putting others before herself. Her kindness and generosity were an inspiration to those who knew her. She will be deeply missed, but her legacy will live on in the memories of those who loved her.
A funeral service will be held at the Old Post Chapel, on Fort Myer Post in Arlington, VA on June 7th, 2023 at 2:45. Immediately following the service, the burial will be take place in Arlington National Cemetery. There will then be a reception at the Fort Myer officers club. In lieu of flowers please make a donation to the Alzheimer’s Society.
