Lucy M Payne

Born on April 15, 1923, in Loudoun County, Virginia, Lucy lived a long and fulfilling life devoted to faith, family, and community. She was a dedicated member of The Community Church of God in Dunn Loring, Virginia, for many years and served as President of the Falls Church Senior Center for over two decades. Lucy was also a proud member of The Order of the Eastern Star for more than 50 years, exemplifying a lifetime of service and fellowship.

Lucy’s legacy of love and kindness will be cherished by her son, Eugene Payne, and his wife Betty Jean, and her daughter, Diane Kagle. She will also be deeply missed by her nine grandchildren, twenty-five great-grandchildren, and twenty-eight great-great-grandchildren, all of whom were blessed by her warmth and wisdom.

Lucy was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Richard Payne, and her eldest daughter, Marie Jones, along with Marie’s husband, Bobby Jones.

Her family and friends will forever remember her strength, grace, and devotion to those she loved.

A visitation will be held on Monday, November 10, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Murphy Funeral Home, 1102 W. Broad Street, Falls Church, VA 22046. During this time, The Order of the Eastern Star will hold a special ceremony in Lucy’s honor from 5:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.

A second visitation will take place the following day, Tuesday, November 11, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., at The Community Church of God 2500 Gallows Road, Dunn Loring, VA 22027 followed by a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Interment will follow at National Memorial Park in Falls Church at 7482 Lee Hwy, Falls Church, VA 22042 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m.
