Lydia Ellen Stowers

Lydia Stowers, age 86, passed peacefully into the arms of her Lord and Savior on July 20, 2026.

A devoted Christian, Lydia lived her life guided by faith, compassion, and a deep love for others. She faithfully served the Lord throughout her life, including many years as a Sunday School teacher, helping others grow in their faith and understanding of God’s Word. Her unwavering trust in God was evident in both her words and her actions.

Lydia also had a special heart for encouraging others through her card ministry. Several times each month, she mailed handwritten cards filled with prayers, scripture, and words of encouragement to friends, family members, and those facing life’s challenges. Through these simple but meaningful acts of kindness, she touched countless lives and brought comfort, hope, and reminders of God’s love to many.

In addition to her ministry and service, Lydia enjoyed a distinguished career working for both the Pentagon and the General Accounting Office, where she was respected for her dedication, professionalism, and strong work ethic.
Lydia will be remembered for her servant’s heart, steadfast faith, generosity, and ability to make others feel loved and cared for. She embraced every opportunity to pray with others, offer encouragement, and reflect Christ’s love in her daily life.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Barbara Towers and her husband, Robert, and Dawn Alexander and her husband, Michael; as well as her cherished grandchildren, Blake Rorer and Brooke Rorer. Dawn and Michael faithfully served as her devoted caregivers, providing loving care and unwavering support. Her family will forever treasure her wisdom, strength, steadfast faith, and unconditional love.
While her family mourns her passing, they take comfort in knowing that Lydia’s earthly journey is complete and that she is now in the presence of her Savior. Her legacy of faith, service, kindness, and encouragement will continue to live on in the hearts of all who were blessed to know and love her.
