Lynne Mary Schoonover Roller

Lynne Mary Schoonover Roller, 66, passed away on February 20, 2017, after an eighteen-month battle against interstitial lung disease and related conditions. Lynne was born on August 13, 1950, in Athens, Pennsylvania, where she grew up and graduated from high school. Lynne received a M.S. degree in zoology from Penn State in 1972 and did graduate studies in physiology at the University of California at Berkley. Lynne returned east in 1974 to enroll in the Medical School at the University of Virginia, from which she received an M.D. in 1978. Lynne did her internship and residency in pediatrics at Childrens National Medical Center in Washington, D.C., from 1978 to 1982. Following her residency, Lynne worked with the same pediatric practice for over 30 years, most recently as part of Children's Pediatricians & Associates in Washington, DC. Lynne was greatly esteemed by her many patients and their families.

Lynne married Moffett Roller on August 13, 1983, a date that was Moffett's birthday as well as Lynne's, and that was thereafter their wedding anniversary as well. Lynne and her family lived in Falls Church, Virginia, from the mid-1980s to the present. Lynne had a long-standing Christian faith that was was reflected in her committment to her family, friends, patients, colleagues, and fellow church members.

Lynne is survived by her husband, Moffett, son, Andrew (Caity), twin daughters, Kathleen and Sallie; grandaughter, Hailey; sister Nancy Hoffman (David) of Apopka, FL; brother Allan Schoonover (Linda)of Centre Hall, PA; as well as three nieces, two nephews, and their children.

The Funeral Service will be conducted by The Falls Church Anglican Church at Little Falls Presbyterian Church, 6025 Little Falls Road, Arlington, VA, at 6:30 p.m., Thursday, March 2, 2017, with The Reverend Dr. John W. Yates, II, and the Reverend Nicholas Lubelfeld officiating. A reception will be held at the same location immediately following the service.
