Maeta Renee Gelfound, aged 79, of Gaithersburg, MD, passed away peacefully on February 9, 2024, surrounded by her loving husband and children.
Born in Winnipeg, Canada, in 1944 to Raymond and Berte Sera, Maeta moved to the United States with her family at the age of 14, settling in Reseda, California, where she completed her high school education. At 17, she met the love of her life, Arnold Gelfound, and they were married on June 28, 1963. Together, they welcomed their daughter, Staci Michelle Gelfound, in November 1967, and their son, Steven Mark Gelfound, in November 1972. The family relocated to Maryland in 1973, where they built their forever home in Gaithersburg.
Maeta's life was a rich tapestry woven with threads of love, adventure, and creativity. Her unwavering devotion to her family was the cornerstone of her happiness, and her bond with her husband Arnold was an enduring source of joy. Together, they embarked on journeys to exotic locales, each destination adding a new chapter to their shared experiences.
As a homemaker, Maeta infused her household with warmth and elegance, curating a space where laughter flowed freely, and memories were made. Her passion for fine art added an extra layer of beauty to her home, reflecting her appreciation for aesthetics and culture.
Despite her many responsibilities, Maeta found time to pursue her own interests and personal growth. Enrolling in classes at the local community college allowed her to indulge her curiosity and continue learning throughout her life. As an Executive Assistant, she thrived in her role, applying her organizational skills and dedication to support her colleagues and contribute to the success of her workplace.
In her later years, Maeta's greatest joy came from nurturing the next generation of her family.
