Mandy Earline Mader, 59, of Dunn Loring, Virginia, passed away on Monday, September 13 at 2:00 a.m. in Washington, DC.
Mandy was born in San Angelo, Texas to Early Mae and Monroe Nugent Preas on February 12, 1962. She grew up in San Angelo and lived in California and Germany before putting down permanent roots in northern Virginia. She worked for Analytic Services Inc (ANSER) for 23 years rising from temporary secretary to being the manager of the multidomain ANSER Decision Support Division. While there she met and married her husband, Steve Hopkins. After taking early retirement, she attended L’Academie de Cuisine pastry school and became CEO of ‘Puffed Up Pastries’, where she baked pastries, cakes, cookies, and more for various clients and events. Mandy also worked and taught cooking classes at Williams Sonoma in the Merrifield, Virginia Mosaic District where she loved to share her cooking knowledge with young and old.
Mandy is preceded in death by her parents, Early Mae and Monroe Nugent Preas.
Mandy is survived by her husband, Steve Hopkins; daughter and her spouse, Amber & Jeffrey Hobble; son, Bradley Mader; sisters, Becky Warren, Kathy Perdue; brother; Bob Preas, and granddaughter, River Hobble.
Mandy was an avid Washington Nationals baseball fan. In lieu of flowers, Mandy’s family requests that donations be made to the Nationals Philanthropies at www.nats4good.org. The family of Mandy wishes to extend its sincere thanks to the medical staff at Medstar Georgetown University Hospital for the expert and loving care they gave her.
A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, September 25, 2021 at National Funeral Home, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, Virginia.
