Mrs. Applegate was born June 15, 1949 in Munich, Germany, daughter of the late Joseph Julian and Audrey Davin McLachlan.
She is survived by her husband, John L. Applegate. She is also survived by two sons, Coval Johnson of Mt. Jackson and Craig Johnson of Haddon Township, New Jersey; two sisters, Patricia Simon of Cherry Hill, New Jersey and Meeghan Carter of Newark, Delaware; and two brothers, Thomas McLachlan of Sterling and Michael McLachlan of Durango, Colorado.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 4:30 p.m. to 7 p.m. with a funeral service at 7 p.m. at National Funeral Home, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA 22042. Burial will follow Monday at 9 a.m. at National Memorial Park in Falls Church.
