Obituary of Margaret Louise Lowrey

IN THE CARE OF

Murphy Funeral Homes

Margaret (Peggy) Louise Lowrey died January 9, 2024, peacefully after a long battle with dementia, while residing in the memory care unit of The Virginian Retirement Community in Fairfax, VA. Peggy is survived by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, including her daughters Paula Dierkes (husband Charlie), Pam Curry (husband Bob) and son Rick Lowrey (wife Lisa). Peg was the proud grandmother of 12 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren, all of whom enjoyed being with their beloved grandma. Peg was born “Margarita Luisa Baldinelli” in Sharpsville, PA on December 9, 1927, the 4th of 8 children to Giovanni & Helen (Brannan) Baldinelli. Peg is also survived by her younger sister Jane (husband Pat) Ciccone and younger brother David (wife Darlene) Baldinelli. She met her life partner, Pat, while they were both employed at G.C. Murphy’s prior to Pat’s distinguished military career. Often, Peg referencing a popular song in their youth, would say Pat met his “million-dollar baby (in a five and ten cent store).” Peg was a devoted military wife, and managed the Lowrey household during Pat’s 26-year military career with stops in Ft. Campbell, KY, Germany, Ft. Bragg, NC, the Military District of Washington, Ft. Gordon, GA, and Ft. McClellan, AL. Over the years, the entire family enjoyed vacations to the beach (Peg’s favorite), as well as large holiday gatherings filled with family, delicious Italian cuisine, and abundant love and laughter. Together, they built a lasting love of 62 years in a faith-based marriage and partnership. A funeral Mass at 10:30 AM, Friday May 10, 2024 will be held at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Arlington, VA. Immediately following, Peggy will be buried at Arlington National Cemetery. As the family prepares for Peg’s memorial celebration and final resting place alongside her husband Pat at Arlington National Cemetery, we ask you consider making a tribute donation in lieu of flowers to The Alzheimer’s Association (www.alz.org)
