Marian R. Hardy was born December 28, 1925 in Reading, PA and graduated from Reading Senior High School in 1943. She began her federal employment immediately with the Department of the Army at Valley Forge Army Hospital, Phoenixville PA. She took classes at Ursinus College and George Washington University. In 1965 Marian was promoted to personnel management and transferred to the Fort Myer Army Base, Arlington, VA. In 1968 Marian toured 18 months to the Republic of Vietnam as a Team Chief for the Personnel Program.
Marian was “Devout Christian Woman” and long time member of Word of Life Church in Springfield VA. She accepted the Lord Jesus as her Savior early in life and surrounded herself with friends and family who loved praising the Lord God. Marian was an accomplished pianist and taught piano lessons. She welcomed praise and bible fellowships with friends for many years. Marian was also active in setting up voter registration at her church. She loved her country and received letters of gratitude from former Presidents Ronald Reagan and George W. Bush.
Marian was also very active on her local community. She set up and ran the Food Drives in her home and community for 22 years for the ACCA organization. She received a recognition award, reception, and was listed in the Congressional Record. Throughout the years Marian had long-term friendships with Patsy Mc Donald from Word of Life and her personal friend of 25 years, Margaret York. Mrs. York continues to demonstrate what it is to be a godly friend at all times, even to assist with final family affairs.
Most of all, Marian loved the Lord God with all of her heart, soul, mind, and strength. Even in her latter days when she was unable to drive around she interceded for others, through prayer. Wherever she went she would ask others, “Do you know about Jesus and how much He loves you?” Her heart’s desire was for all people to believe in Jesus and accept Him as their personal Lord and Savior. To Marian, this was the needful thing. Her favorite quote is,
“TO GOD BE THE GLORY, GREAT THINGS HE HAS DONE!”
Marian was married to Francis Hardy in 1945. From this union is their beautiful daughter, Carol Hardy Pellegrini. The Lord blessed Marian through Carol with four loving grand children; Anthony Pellegrini Jr., Michele Sowers, Dean Pellegrini, and Lisa Ricketts, 11 great grand children and 2 great, great grandchildren and a host of other family members and friends.
