Marion Wood Wiles, 84, of Fairfax, VA died peacefully after prolonged illness on Sunday, January 13, 2019. Marion found great joy in life and in turn brought it to others. She was loved by many and will be remembered for her devotion to glorifying her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, her smile, laughter, and her unconditional love for family, friends and the children she taught. Marion was an active member of Columbia Baptist Church in Falls Church VA for 50 plus years where she served in numerous and various capacities. She was a Sunday School teacher, a Childcare worker for the ESL Program, maintained the lighting of candles program for the Contemplative Service, answered phones, sang in the Joy Singers Choir, and was a Deaconess to name a few. Marion was employed as an Early Childhood Development teacher for 30 plus years at Columbia Baptist Church Child Development Center. For Marion this was not a job but her passion. She influenced many young lives through her dedication and love for the children. She was born August 2, 1934 in Amherst County, VA, and is survived by her husband Benjamin F. Wiles; two daughters, Karen Hastings and her husband Todd of Vienna, VA and Lori Daniels and her husband John of Manassas, VA; three sisters and one brother, Frances Coates of Madison Heights, VA, Herbert Wood and his wife Peggy of Madison Heights, Virginia Glover and her husband Percy of Lynchburg, VA and Mary Mitchell and her husband Leslie “Les” of Rustburg, VA; and numerous nieces and nephews. Marion is predeceased by her mother Flossie B. Wood; one brother, Marvin Wood; two sisters Charlotte Wood and Ollie Mae Courington, as well as one niece and two nephews. A Life Celebration Service will be held at 1:00PM on Saturday, February 9, 2019 in the Chapel of Columbia Baptist Church with reception to immediately follow.
