

Mary Michel Cochran passed away on Friday, February 16th, 2024, at the age of 82. She was born on January 6th, 1942, in Washington, DC to Harry Eugene Montgomery, Sr. and Mary Elizabeth Darr Montgomery.
Michel lived most of her life in Annandale, Virginia. She worked as an executive assistant to the presidents of both the American Postal Workers Union and AFL-CIO and was beloved by all her colleagues for her dedication to the labor unions.
Outside of her career, Michel passionately cared for her cats and the woodland creatures around her home. She received daily visits from squirrels, birds, raccoons, and deer enchanted by her Snow White-like charm who loved her garden as much as she did. She was an avid reader and enjoyed mystery books. She loved shopping trips with friends and family. She had several restaurants she visited frequently and enjoyed dinner and cocktails surrounded by regulars who knew her well.
Michel is survived by her grandson, Cole Cochran and his stepbrother Ryan Lambird, along with her nieces, Jackie Terry, Lauren Montgomery, and Theresa Montgomery. She was preceded in death by her son Ford Cochran, her brother Gene, and parents Harry and Mary.
Michel’s kindness, intelligence, and warm smile will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Her memory will live on through those whose lives she touched.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, February 29th Messiah United Methodist Church in West Springfield, VA at 11 am. A private burial for family will follow at National Memorial Park.
