Mary Elizabeth Brooks Flaherty "Betty" made her transition into Heaven on March 16th, 2012. Betty was born on March 14th, 1921 in Washington, D.C., Daughter of Helen R. and Charles W. Brooks, Mother of Virginia Achstetter, Philip Flaherty and Jeffrey Flaherty. She attended American University and the University of Maryland and received a B.A. degree in Sociology in 1943. During WWII , She volunteered her time at the local USO, and often brought soldiers home to her family for a home cooked meal. She was employed by the Department of State in 1943 in the Correspondence Branch of the Passport Office for 23 years. She will be missed by 3 children and 5 grand children, Stephen, David, Alanna, Kelsey, and Sean and one great granddaughter , Londyn.
