Mary Ellen Mills

Mary Ellen Mills, 80, died at Fair Oaks Hospital on December 22 with family by her side. Beloved wife of the late Nelson A. Mills. Cherished mother of Vicki (Gary) Owens of Centreville, Va, Scott Mills of Fairfax, Va. and Michelle (Carl) Giordano of Manassas, Va. She had four grandchildren: Crystal and Heather Owens and Courtney and Dalton Mills. Great grandson Shane M. Owens. She is also survived by three sisters: Betty (Paul) Combs of Bealton, Va, June (Jack) Attmanspacher of King George Va, and Nancy (Bill) Wagner of Park City, Ut. She was preceded in death by her parents, Etlan Reddish Yowell and Robert Pendleton Yowell. Along with her immediate family she was adored by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Born in Fairfax County where she remained her entire life she made many friendships and touched many people deeply. She met her husband at the age of 15 and enjoyed their often wild and fun adventures. She cherished and enjoyed her three children who lived locally and joked that they would “never go away”. Loved by so many that will treasure the memories of her sharp witted sense of humor, her deep concern for loved ones happiness and her acceptance of others and ability to make them feel at home and comfortable. Her wisdom, spunk and honesty will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Services will be held at National Memorial Park in Falls Church, Va. On Saturday January 4, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. Internment immediately to follow. Family will hold a Celebration of Life at the American Legion Post 177 from 4:00-6:00. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Fairview Beach Erosion Fund P.O.
