

Mary Sekeyian Naisho was born in November 1946, in a small mission village named Siyiapei in Kenya, her father was a teacher and mother a domestic science teacher. Her grandfather Molonket Sempele was a paramount Maasai chief In 1909, he was brought by the American missionaries to the United States of America for studies and thus was one of the first Kenyan African to come to the US. The objective of the missionaries was for him to get an education that will assist to extend mission work in Kenya. He thus was the first to set up a mission (Africa Inland Church) in his native village of Siyiapei-Narok and the first to translate the New Testament Bible into the Maa language.
Mary was a proud Maasai, worked at the Kenyan Postal service from where she retired after 26 years of successful service. She moved to the US in 2000 to be closer to her two daughters and started a new career in health care.
Mary Naisho was the 3rd. born daughter of, the late Jonathan & Annah Naisho. Mother to Elvis Selelo Naisho, Nancy Christensen and Sheila Naisho. Grandmother to Samatei Jessie, Adam Christensen and Aleksia Christensen Mother-in-law to Sarah Selelo and Lars Christensen; she had six brothers and four sisters, of whom Joyce Naisho who is here with us. She also had 15 nephews and 11 nieces, of whom Soila Munro who is also here.
Mary has numerous friends in the USA, Kenya, Canada and throughout the world. She was cherished, respected and loved by her colleagues at the Mother Baby Department at the Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington. She was known to be a prayer warrior; one always felt peace after she prayed for them. She lived a Godly life and touched many hearts, she did not only talk the talk, and she walked it. Her beautiful spirit made this world a little brighter for many who crossed her path; we thank God for sharing her with us.
A visitation will be held Saturday, January 4, 2014 from 12:00PM to 1:00PM with a funeral service following at 1:00PM at Murphy Funeral Home; 1102 W. Broad Street; Falls Church, Virginia 22046.
