Melanie Ann Sisson

She moved to Sterling in 1963 and attended Broad Run High School where she was a majorette in the band. Melanie worked for the Fairfax County Government for 33 years and retired in 2010 to spend more time with her family and to travel. She loved going on cruises, singing karaoke and cross-stitching. Melanie was an active member of the Park View Booster club for many, many years. She fulfilled a long time dream of purchasing a lake house in 2014 to spend weekends with her family.

Melanie leaves behind a devoted and loving husband of 33 years, Gary, a son, Bradley (Lynsey) of Sterling Park, daughters Valerie Sarwark (Nicholas) of Phoenix, AZ and Hillary, grandchildren Ruth, Joel, and Ava, sister Vanessa Rice Rokas (Louis) of Melbourne, Australia, nephew Andrew, and mother, Marlene Rice of Sterling Park.

Family welcomes friends for a viewing from 6pm until 9pm on Wednesday, May 6 and for funeral services at 1pm on Thursday, May 7 at National Memorial Park, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA 22042. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the American Cancer Society.
