

MILDRED FELDMAN HOFBERG passed away on January 3, 2012. She was 95. Mildred was born March 19, 1916 in Washington, DC. A lifelong DC resident, she married the late Israel Hofberg and raised her two daughters Sandra (Stanley) Bobb and Susan (Jimmy) Pittleman. While her husband served in World War II, Mildred ran the family business. She is survived by her two daughters, sons-in-law, and her companion of 20 years, Chester Kneller, as well as her sister, Rose Burka, and her two brothers-in-law, Joseph and Samuel Hofberg and sister-in-law, Laurie Hofberg. She also has six loving grandchildren, Jodi (Rodd) Macklin, Tammy (Cliff) Mendelson, Daryle (Beth) Bobb, Jacey (Aaron) Spratt, Jed Pittleman and Ethan Pittleman and 13 great grandchildren, Oliver, Janie, Cooper and Luke Macklin; Amanda, Annie, Tess and Ruby Mendelson; Jordan, Justin, Kayla and Lucy Bobb; and Benjamin Spratt. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, January 5, 1 p.m. at Adas Israel Congregation, 2850 Quebec St., NW, Washington, DC 20008. Interment following at King David Memorial Garden, Falls Church, VA. Shiva will be observed at the home of Susan and Jimmy Pittleman following the burial, and on Saturday and Sunday evening at the home of Sandy and Stanley Bobb.
