Muoi Hong

Muoi Hong was born December 15, 1940 in Vietnam and passed away on April 2, 2026 in Alexandria, Virginia. Her late husband, Khanh Dieu Thai passed away in May 15, 1989, and she is succeeded by her children: Susie Chung, Estelle and Quyen Dao, Katherine and Philip Wong, Michelle and Jorge Cordeiro, Han and Federica Trieu, Jonathan and Jennelle Tsai, Damian and Cindi Tsai, and Cindy and Ted Lim; and by her treasured grandchildren: Vincent Chung, Victor Chung and his wife Rachel Chung, Victoria Chung, Vivian Dao, Vanessa Dao, Sarah Wong, Kyle Wong, Medalene Tsai, Ethan Tsai, Kaylene Tsai, Kaeden Tsai, Ryan Lim, and Evan Lim.

She is remembered as an ageless beauty, daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother, devout buddhist, singer, an excellent cook, and was well loved by everyone she met.

Despite life’s challenges, she always lived with a positive outlook. Even without the opportunity to further her education beyond middle school, she managed to self-teach and continue to enhance her knowledge and skills - learning to speak and understand multiple languages. Immigrating to the United States as the result of the Vietnam War, she re-established the household and a safe environment for her children. She built and raised a strong foundation outside of her home country even after she was widowed at mid-life. She continued to raise her children on her own and helped raise her thirteen grandchildren, who hold fond memories and nothing but love in their hearts for her as she shared her story with them.

Even with significant medical challenges, she continuously showed exemplary strength and will. She exemplified the ideal of a fulfilled life. She was kind, selfless, resilient, wise, full of love, humorous, and a passionate lover of food. Muoi Hong will continue to be loved and will be celebrated and mourned by an amazingly large community of family and friends that have supported and followed her throughout her journey.

In respect for the wishes of the deceased, a private funeral will be held with her family. Muoi Hong will be cremated and buried next to her late husband. She wishes for her death to be treated as a celebration of life. Muoi Hong's story will be immortalized through her progeny with respect, pride, love, and joy.

A Celebration of Life will be held at National Funeral Home, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA 22042, US, on April 8, 2026, from 9:00 am to 12:00 pm.

A Committal Service will take place at National Memorial Park, 7482 Lee Highway, Falls Church, VA 22042, US, on April 8, 2026, from 12:00 pm to 1:00 pm.
