

Myra Harriet Feldman, 98, of Silver Spring passed away on May 26. Myra was born in New York City to Samuel and Beatrice Gailband on May 10, 1928. She graduated from Queens College in New York with a BA in education. Myra married her childhood sweetheart Herbert Feldman in 1949, and they were together until his death in 2008.
Myra was the first full time Jewish teacher in the Alexandria school system and taught elementary school for over 30 years
She was an active member of Agudas Achim Congregation, until retiring to Riderwood Senior living in Silver Spring; teaching Sunday School and served on the board of directors as secretary/treasurer. Additionally, she was active in the congregation’s sisterhood, serving as vice president, and was also involved in the local chapter of Hadassah.
Always having several books to enjoy, Myra was a bibliophile, an enthusiastic Mahjong player, lover of theatre, and live music performances. She and her husband Herb also loved to travel the world together.
Myra is survived by her sister Marcia Beutner, her children Todd (Randy), Abby (Richard) and Dr Stephen (Deborah), Grandchildren Elisha (John), Karen (Joel), Jill, Wesley (Deborah) Great grandchildren Thomas, Kate, Peter, Grace, Mason, and Emma, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Myra's family wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the staff of Riderwood's Assisted Living for the care and kindness given to our mother these last several years.
Funeral services will be held graveside at King David Memorial Gardens, Falls Church, Virginia on May 31 at 12:00pm. In Lieu of flowers consider a donation to the Riderwood Benevolent Fund or Hospice of Montgomery/Prince George's County
