He was born in Chennai, India on March 15, 1948 to V.S. Natarajan and Radha Natarajan. After completing his Bachelors of Science at IIT Delhi, he pursued his Masters of Science from Carnegie Mellon University. Most recently, he founded and was CEO of Cornet Technology, where he was an incredible mentor and friend. He believed in people and gave them opportunities at the time of their greatest need.
Charitable giving was in his nature whether at work or elsewhere. He supported multiple charities especially those championing women and children. He funded a charity in India where women were given micro loans so they could support their families and rise out of poverty. He also gave generous funding to educational programs and food for underprivileged children in rural villages of southern India, and for special education children here in Virginia.
Nat is survived by his wife of 48 years, Chandra Kumar and son, Sriram Kumar. He was a beloved father, husband, brother, brother-in-law, athimber, periappa, chittappa, uncle, and thatha. He was a towering presence and a source of strength and support to countless individuals and families. We were blessed with his presence in our lives.
Faith and devotion to his Guru was paramount in his life. He served the sangat joyfully and wholeheartedly as a humble sevadar with his fellow sevadar family. While we will miss him dearly, we are comforted knowing that he is in the loving arms of his beloved Hazur Maharaj Ji.
Eh tan mera chashma hove,
murshid vekh na rajjaan hu.
Loon loon de mudh
lakkh lakkh chashma,
hikk kholaan hikk kajjaan hu.
Itnyaan dithyaan sabar na aave,
hor kite val bhajjaan hu.
Murshid da deedaar hai Bahu,
lakh karorraan hajjaan hu.
If my whole body were adorned with eyes,
I would gaze at my Master with untiring zeal.
If only each pore of my body had a million eyes,
then even if some eyes blinked
others would remain open to see.
Even so, my thirst to see my Master
would remain unquenched -
who else can I run to?
A glimpse of the Master, says Bahu,
is better than millions of pilgrimages.
Hymn by Hazrat Sultan Bahu
