To know Nick was to know a man with an enormous heart, a quick wit, a mischievous streak, and an endless capacity to love. He was compassionate, thoughtful, and generous, but never missed an opportunity for a good prank, a little teasing, or a spirited debate—being a contrarian was practically one of his hobbies.
Largely self-taught in the world of technology, Nick built an impressive career as an IT engineer through hard work, perseverance, and an unwavering belief in his ability to figure things out. His accomplishments were a source of great pride, particularly because he wanted to set an example for his children.
Above all, Nick was a family man. Married to his wife, Michelle, for 28 years, he was the love of her life. As a father to Ashley, Jesse, Nicholas, and Michael, he celebrated each child's individuality, offering unconditional acceptance, respect, and encouragement.
He proudly coached basketball for all four of his children and their teams, earning a legendary reputation within his family. His teams won championships, but for Nick, giving every player a chance to participate, improve, and feel valued was always more important than winning the game.
Nick showed his love through his cooking—he was an extraordinary cook whose award-winning chili was only the beginning of his culinary talents. He loved experimenting with new recipes and creating wonderful meals for the people he loved. His hot sauce was one of his best creations.
Nick had a passion for all genres of music. He was especially enthusiastic about inventing his own lyrics to familiar songs. A devoted Washington Redskins fan, Nick also enjoyed game shows, gadgets, gardening, and decorating his home for every holiday. He cherished traditions and took great pleasure in making celebrations memorable.
Nick leaves behind his loving wife, Michelle; their four children, Ashley, Jesse, Nicholas, and Michael; and his brothers, George (Melissa) and John (Terri). He is also survived by his beloved in-laws, nieces, nephews, and extended family. He was preceded in death by his parents, Christos and Ifigenia Gasparis.
Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance and celebration of Nick's life on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at Saint Katherine Greek Orthodox Church, 3149 Glen Carlyn Road, Falls Church, Virginia 22041.
Visitation will begin at 11:30 a.m., followed by the funeral service at 12:30 p.m. Burial will follow at National Memorial Park.
