OBITUARY

Norman Rosenberg

April 15, 1926November 19, 2020

Roads go ever ever on, Over rock and under tree, By caves where never sun has shone, By streams that never find the sea; Over snow by winter sown, And through the merry flowers of June, Over grass and over stone, And under mountains in the moon.

Roads go ever ever on Under cloud and under star, Yet feet that wandering have gone Turn at last to home afar. Eyes that fire and sword have seen And horror in the halls of stone Look at last on meadows green And trees and hills they long have known.

Roads go ever on and on Out from the door where it began. Now far ahead the Road has gone, Let others follow it who can! Let them a journey new begin, But I at last with weary feet Will turn towards the lighted inn, My evening-rest and sleep to meet. - J.R.R. Tolkien

I have known Dr Norman Rosenberg since 1976, when as our Optometrist he provided my son an opportunity to see clearly, at 9 years old!
In the last few years, through LLI, I have been honored to know he and Lorraine as friends. He was an amazing man with a gentle spirit, excellent sense of humor, and kind heart!

I used to cut Norman's hair at the barbershop. So sad to hear of his passing.

Dear Lorraine,
Some of my fondest memories of these past years are from you and Norm with our LLI crowd -- attending classes, going to movies with dinner afterward, and of course, concerts at the Hylton Center, where we'd all gather in the lobby. LLI has been like a second family to me, and you & Norm will always be part of that family in memory. Your friendship has been a precious gift to all of us. My heartfelt condolences to you, and may God continue to bless and keep you.

Dear Lorraine and Family,
Thanks for sharing Norm with us. I loved his music and loved serving with him on the Prince William Symphony Board. He will be greatly missed. He was living proof of how music can always be a part of one's life!!!

Dear Lorraine,
We were deeply saddened to hear of Norm’s passing. You and Norm were in almost every LLI class we took during the past two years , and we even enjoyed lunch together at the Jukebox Diner. We will miss seeing and conversing with Norm in future LLI classes.

Dear Lorraine,

My memories of Norm include the wonderful suggestions he made to LLI for music programs and instructors. It was always so warming to see his smiling face and the two of you walking hand-in-hand to a class or an event. My heartfelt sympathy to you and your family at this difficult time.

I attended many LLI classes in which Norman and his wife were my classmates. I always enjoyed Norman's interesting comments and his enthusiastic participation in the classes. He was living proof that we are never too old to learn something new. I am so sorry to learn of his death. My condolences to his family.
