

Patricia Jane Flint Stearns of McLean, Virginia, died peacefully on July 12, 2026, in McLean, Virginia. She is reunited with her beloved husband of over 54 years, Palmer Newcombe Stearns, Jr., who passed away on October 29, 2023. Patricia was devoted to her family and loved spending time with her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her daughter, Emmy Nadiga, and her son, Palmer (Amy) Newcombe Stearns, III; her adored grandchildren, Tara Nadiga, Jayant Nadiga, Samant Nadiga, Jacob Stearns, and Lucas Stearns; and her brother, Larry (Marti) Flint. She was preceded in death by her sister, Barbara (Sid) Davis, who passed away in 2015. Patricia was born on August 30, 1937, in Youngstown, Ohio, to the late Lawrence Clark and Hava May Jamison Flint. She graduated from Kent State University in 1959 with both Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Science degrees where she served as President of the Delta Zeta Sorority and Secretary of her graduating class. She went on to earn her Master’s Degree in Education in 1966 from Westminster College in New Wilmington, Pennsylvania. A dedicated educator, Patricia taught High School English for seven years in Liberty Township, Ohio, before moving to Montgomery County, Maryland, where she taught English at Newport Junior High School. After her marriage to Palmer Newcombe Stearns, Jr. in 1969, they moved to McLean VA, where she volunteered extensively for her children’s numerous school activities, sports teams, and extracurricular endeavors. Her kindness and vibrant love for people made her very well known and cherished throughout her community. She was a faithful member of St. Dunstan’s Episcopal Church in McLean. Among her many passions, Patricia loved gardening, ice skating, playing tennis with her friends and was an avid knitter. She lovingly knitted for her family and regularly crafted infant hats to donate to local hospitals. Her many interests always revolved around her family, her community, and her friends. No formal funeral service will be held; a private service will be held at a later date to celebrate the lives of both Patricia and her husband, Palmer.
